PHENYLAMINES

I'll skip the preparation part which involves 9 steps and move on to the reactions as I have already gotten the preparation in my head and am now struggling with the reactions. I'll leave out the equations as i can't draw benzene rings here.

1) Phenylamines which are weak bases react with strong acids to form salts where the excess of H+ ions shifts the equilibrium to the right.

2) Phenylamines react with copper (II) ions to form complex ions.

3) Phenylamines reacts with nitrous acid at temperatures above 5 degrees celcius to produce phenol.
The nitrous acid is prepared by mixing ice cold solution of sodium nitrite with dilute hydrochloric acid. Ice bath is used to make sure the temperature is lower than 5 degrees celcius.

Below 5 degrees celcius aromatic amines react with nitrous acid to form diazonium compounds.

Now moving on to Diazonium compounds and soon I'll be done with paracetamol as well. ^_^

Reactions of ethylamines

Finally got the 6 reactions in my head. Let's see if I can recall all six.
1) reaction with water to form hydroxide ion

CH3CH2NH2 + H2O ---> CH3CH2NH3+ + OH -

2) reaction with an acid to form a salt

CH3CH2NH2 + H+ --> CH3CH2NH3+

3) reaction with an acid chloride to form a substituted anode (ethanoylation)

CH3CH2NH2 + CH3COCl --> CH3CONHCH3CH2 + HCl

4) reaction with copper (II) ions
To form complex ions.

[Cu(H2O)6]2+ + 4CH2CH3NH2 --> [ Cu(CH3CH2NH2)4(H2O)2] + 4H2O

5) reaction with halogenoalkanes to form secondary amines.

CH3CH2NH2 + CH3CH2Cl---> (CH3CH2)2NH + HCl

6) reaction between a primary amine and nitrous acid to form a primary alcohol.

CH3CH2NH2 + HNO2 --> CH3CH2OH + N2 + H2O

Yes!! I did it. Now moving on to phenylamines... I can do this!!

Not just any normal sort of chemistry but organic chemistry. I have a closed book tutorial on amines tomorrow so I'm currently revising and doing my best to understand and remember all the mechanisms and reactions involved.
Benzene rings... Coupling reactions..
Phenylamides.
So much to remember..
Although I can surely do this with a optimistic approach.

Yes!! Finally it is out. Sherlock is out and I have found my new favourite song or perhaps I should say songs.
SHINee... I died within the first 15secs *o*
Their main song is still stuck in my head... (my title)
This was definitely worth waiting for. I just can't wait for their live performance and also the MV. A few more days to go!
Now I shall get back to studying.. This was the best study break ever. :D

My self reward for working hard !!

I finally got the new folder that came out along with other cute additions to my collection.

ONEW oppa my motivation!!! ~

Right now the best motivation I get to keep working hard is mostly from Onew oppa. I want to work hard and get the highest ranking just like you did in high school (I may sound weird but Im just a GINORMOUS fan) .I shall ace my bio quiz and get me the new folder I saw in the shop today. Thanks to Shinees songs I can be cheerful despite the workload that's following me around in my shadows.
Also I can't wait for the 21st of march. I have loads to accomplish by then so I can relax and watch Shinee's comeback.

I was going to do this yesterday but unfortunately I had home work to complete although it was my birthday. :(
Anyways...What I really wanted to do yesterday was thank my mother for bringing me into this world. Also thanks to all my family members for filling my life up until now with laughter,joy and love.
I'm writing it down here because I do not have the credit to text her. I'm really glad to be your daughter and I will do my best to live up to your expectations.

Heres how I celebrated my 19th birthday..with my lovely grandma and ever so sweet little brother. Wish everyone was around but still I had a lovely time. :D
